New Earrings

I just finished these earrings last night. I used an off center figure-8 silver metal frame, flecked silver globes, and smokey bicone beads. They hang on rhodium earring hooks so they won't tarnish and are wearable by people who have allergies to nickle. I'm working on a necklace right now that will match these earrings and I think I'll make a matching bracelet to complete the set. I'm working on their gift boxes too. I've made them out of a silvery gray slightly textured paper and I have some neat silvery ribbon to match. I'll post pics of everything when it's all complete.

For now....I must game...it's been far too long!

Cheers!

Long Day

It was a long day today after this morning's work in my office here at home, mailing out books to sell back to Powells, running to the store for more silver spacer beads, working with the kids, going to a regional meeting (mandatory btw) and then coming home. I wanted to veg out for awhile but the creativeness started to kick in and I had to sit down at my crafting desk.

I didn't have anything in mind so I just started playing with beads and came up with what's in the picture so far. I'm not sure where it's going to go but it'll probably keep with the ice-like feel that it has with the flecked silver round beads and the little clear tube beads. I'll keep posting as it develops into what it will be.

I'm going to try to make a bunch of gift boxes this weekend during the super bowl time since I don't watch the super bowl and will only have it on so I can watch the Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe trailers. :P I want to start offering a gift boxing service with my ETSY shop soon. I think it would be a nice touch and I have so many lovely papers and ribbons to use!

That's all for now. It's almost bed time!

Cheers!

Another Modern Picture Frame Necklace

So I made another Modern Picture Frame Necklace just to experiment with the frame and see what kind of designs I could come up with. I used the long rectangle frame this time and wire wrapped the frame with lime glass beads from Blue Moon. I left one less on the left side there because I wanted to hang a charm there instead. I was thinking about doing only part of the frame wrapped with beads but went ahead and did the whole thing. Maybe the next one I'll only do part of it...symmetry is overrated. :P I used the same kind of chain as the other Picture Frame Necklace since it's nice and sturdy and used as 'S' clasp again with a matching charm.

I wore it to work today and it held up very nicely. I work with kids and am constantly moving around so it gave me a chance to see how sturdy it was. It never gave me any issues.

I'll be putting up the Picture Frame Necklaces on my etsy site tomorrow I think so if you might be interested in either of them, please check out my store Enchanted...By Beka.

Thats all for now. I need to help the husband with rebuilding the banister!

Cheers!

Modern Dragonfly Picture Frame Necklace

So I started another necklace last night and finished it this morning. When I began, I had no idea what it was going to be but I think it turned out pretty well. I started with a wire frame I picked up and started wrapping black copper filled wire and ended up with the first picture above on the left. I decided it needed some color and a little something else and added some nice lime green glass beads from Blue Moon that I got on sale at Michael's and a little silver dragonfly charm in the center which is also from Blue Moon. (I love that company) I couldn't decide what to put it on: a beaded necklace or chain and the chain won out. It looked too cluttered on a beaded necklace to me. I finished it up with a silver 'S' clasp with a little charm so the clasp wouldn't come undone. It's a fun necklace to make and I'm already planning out my next picture frame necklace but this one will be a long rectangle. Not sure what I want to put in the center but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

So I started working with my new roll of silver 24 gauge wire for a special project but the wire was crap. It left a black residue and broke off. I couldn't work with it at all. I went back to the store to take it back and they didn't carry that wire in a different company. I braved the start of rush hour traffic and went to another store to find that they were COMPLETELY out of the wire I needed. I settled for a 26 gauge and I'm hoping it will work. Kind of flying blind here so we shall see if it works or not.

That's all for now!

Beads, Wire, Tools....Oh My!

I managed to get a few more supplies at Joann's today since they were having a 40% off sale. For 4 items, it only cost me $3.50! Nice! Since I am starting to accumulate more of certain colors, I've finally started moving some of my beads into the larger container which makes room for other colors I want to get like light orange, yellow...summer colors.

I'm going to be starting on a friend's commission here soon: an aquamarine wire braid bracelet, much like the ones I have up in my shop. (Like that one over to the left.) I got some black wire so I can do a dark one and see how that turns out.

It looks like I might be doing some work on a good friend's wedding. Woo! I'm honored, honored, honored! I'm working with a few ideas to present that are elegant and stylish and hopefully they will be good enough! I'll be posting pics during the process for show and to get some feedback.

That's all for now. I"ll have more once I start my next projects!

Cheers!
